Back in April 2014 Richard Mantle, Opera North's General Director, launched the new Opera North Season for 2014/15.  I had the privilege to have been present at the season launch and I was among the many who was excited receiving what we will be looking forward to.

This features focuses primarily on the forthcoming autumn season.  There is a new production of La Traviata and the 1998 revival of The Bartered Bride directed by Alessandro Talevi and Daniel Slater respectively.  Opera North are keen to continue developing their Baroque repertoire with a new production of Montevideo's The Coronation of Poppea, directed by Tim Albery.

The three contrasting opera chosen will consolidate the company's pride to showcase a diverse range of work that they do and to attract audiences of all backgrounds and tastes.  The operas could not be anymore different but will explore similar themes of forbidden love and its consequences.  Opera North is excited about bringing the operas to Leeds and the North of England.

Please visit Opera North's website for further information including tickets, the company's background and the forthcoming operas.  Reviews will be posted via this blog.
